The buckthorn I think is unlikely to bloom, but puts its energy into sending shoots up from its roots. In the end we'd get low growing mats of buckthorn. Although cutting is part of the solution along with well timed herbicides which no one likes to use. It's just so overwhelming in this much woods. And my problem is to see it all at once instead of a long process. The key is a little at a time over several years. The seed bank is extensive so there's no way around the long haul.
