The Little Wetland

I have many favorite spots at our place, but this one is high on the list. It is hard to fathom that we are stewards of such a place. The lower photo reveals a deer trail entering the wetland. I am considering a plank walk so that we can experience the wetland from within outside of winter.

  1. Beautiful! Are those wetlands spring-fed? Out here in the northern Willamette Valley, we are headed into a spate of 90°+ days (just in time for the Rose Parade on Saturday), so our spring-fed back yard/jungle will begin to dry up a bit. Warmly, Leslie in Oregon

    1. The wetlands are generally fed by runoff of the surrounding moraine. To some degree there is ground water penetration in the wetlands. We have finally hit 90, and it was a good run. Now the squitos are out to get us.
