I was in Red Hook yesterday, but the heavy rain and high winds obscured any seaside goldenrod I otherwise might have seen. A few days earlier, my lifelong dream of seeing a cardinal in real life was fulfilled...I got to study her for about thirty minutes as she explored and rested in a small, quiet garden in Fort Greene.
